Novinium’s P1816 Cable Prep Guide

This course provides background on cable and component design and detailed best practices on how to prepare cables for the installation of dead-front terminations, live-front terminations, and splices. The authority for the course content is derived from “IEEE® P1816™ Guide for Preparation Techniques of Extruded Dielectric, Shielded Cable Rated 2.5 kV through 46 kV and the Installation of Mating Accessories.”

Likely to publish in 2012, P1816 was prepared by the Insulated Conductor Committee (ICC) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).  Novinium had a large influence in the writing of this guide.

About the Course Format

One of the great features of Computer-Based Training (CBT) is that you may progress at your own pace.  If you do not achieve a passing on the first attempt – no worries! – you may re-take the test as many times as required.  Because the CBT software randomizes the questions from a larger pool of questions and randomizes the order of the answers, you cannot pass the test without actually knowing the course content.  We highly recommend working through the rich multi-media learning experience before taking the tests.
